wow. has it really been 4 years since i wrote on this last? amazing how time flies. in retrospect , i havent spent much attention to my profile on here other than the ocasional 'let's see what the community is doing'. College ended up being much more than i expected it to be. i have done a lot of work both with art and with design, layout, photography and printing in the last 4 years; but a lot of it is not stuff i would 'write home to mom about'. most of it is just stuff that was done to get the grade and thats about it. So, as a result of that i havent posted much if any of it on here, there have been a few here and there but for the most part its not the kind of stuff that i felt like sharing.

I'm in a sort of transitional state right now. im finishing up a second degree next month and trying to get a job, trying to avoid skill-les labor such as gas-stations and department stores is going to be problematic im thinking, the area i live in isnt exactly known for being the mecca of graphic design and art. but i will perceiver, i will move forward, and i will survive. if things go well i may end up continuing more classes in the coming months and years while slowly moving towards the next level of a degree, I am optimistic but not overly hopeful at this point, but only time will tell.

If all goes the way i want it to in an ideal world (HA! like that ever truly happens), i will end up posting more on here starting sooner rather than later. photography, sketches, illustrations etc... there is a lot i want to learn and experiment with, but it takes time and space that i really dont have much of right now. i wish i was the kind of person that could just whip something out in 5 minutes on a packed bus over a bumpy road, but im not, it generally takes me some time in an environment that i can control that right now i just dont have any control over right now.

well, hopefully ill be posting something soon. Cheers!

It Begins

I am now officially taking classes this year now, in the visual communications program at my local CC. so far (3 weeks in) it isn't all that bad, but then again its just the beginning. over the next two years, or more, this is what a large portion of the work that i will be doing will be focused around.

well now. I received an email today, it was a good email. :p it was from the head of the visual communications program that i applied to roughly two weeks ago. i was informed that i was accepted into the program... W00T!!! Im IN!!! I was worried that i wasn't going to make it, I had confidence that i would but there is always that slim chance that makes you worry. But i dont have to worry about that now so YES its all good.

so now that im actually in comes 2 years (or more) of 'hardcore' and insanely paced classes working my way toward a career making a good living. there will be good times and there will be 'i just want to quit' times. in preparation for these classes i purchased a 'new toy', i went to frys and purchased a 500GB IoMega eGo firewire external 2.5" hard drive. it is USB 2.0 as well as Firewire 400 and 800 (aka. IEEE 1394a/b) this is for all of the digital media that we are suppose to be creating in the programs. I really dont know as of yet if i will truly need 500GB JUST for school related stuff in the next two years but who knows, only time will truly tell. School is always such a wonderful excuse to get 'new toys' :D

well, last week i finally got my portfolio turned in along with my application to the Visual Communications program. i am patiently and eagerly awaiting confirmation of yea or nay as to if they are going to accept me into the program. i am hoping they do as otherwise ill have to wait another full year to start classes which would be a bummer, but it would allow me to get all of the classes that dont require me to be in the program which would be nice, but still suck. oh well, here is hoping. :)

a new toy...

2 min read
well today i finally got fed up to the limit with my cordless mouse... SO i went out and bought a tablet pen mouse... its a WACOM Bamboo Fun CTE-450, silver. its a pad that can use either the mouse or pen that comes with it, they are both cordless and dont require batteries which is pretty kul because even cordless mouses still require you to plug in the receiver into a usb slot, this takes up a usb slot as well, but as i mentioned there are no batteries needed at all. the pen is pressure sensitive, and the pressure setting is compatible with Illustrator and photoshop, which makes it react more like a real pen/pencil/marker.

i have played with them in the past but have never had a real need to spend the money on one. the way i figure is is that i am getting into a VC program so im just thinking that having this 'tool' will come in handy down the road.

they take some getting use to but after playing with it for less than 3 hours it already seems like Ive been using it for years. so overall im happy with my new "toy" :)
